Who is #Israel? A Spiritual House, Not a Physical One

Understanding Israel Through Scripture

Many people believe that Israel is merely a place or a specific DNA lineage, but the truth is far deeper and more profound. According to the Bible, Israel represents a mindset and a spiritual belief or faith. In Ephesians 2:11-17, Paul speaks of the unity between Jews and Gentiles, emphasizing that through Jesus, both are reconciled into one body. Acts 7:49 states, "Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool," indicating that God's presence transcends physical locations. Romans 9:6-8 clarifies that not all who are descended from Israel are truly Israel, but rather it is those who are children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham's offspring.

The Biblical Meaning of Israel

In the Bible, the term Israel signifies more than a nation or ethnicity. It represents those who have entered into a covenant with God, following His commandments and living by faith. The name Israel, given to Jacob after wrestling with God, means "he who struggles with God." This struggle and the subsequent transformation symbolize a spiritual journey and a commitment to God’s will. Thus, Israel is a community of believers, united not by blood but by faith and obedience to God.

Jesus: The King of Spiritual Israel

Jesus' purpose as the King of Israel was not to establish a physical kingdom but to usher in a new spiritual Israel, now known as Christians. This new Israel is called to live by the teachings of Jesus, embodying love, compassion, and faith. Evangelical Pentecostals and others stuck in the belief that Israel is a physical people or place must awaken to the reality that the Kingdom of God transcends physical boundaries and nationalities. Jesus came to gather all who believe in Him into one spiritual family, regardless of their earthly heritage.

Wake Up and See Through Kingdom Eyes

As followers of Christ, we must wake up and see through kingdom eyes. We are called to be the spiritual Israel, a people set apart by our faith and commitment to God's ways. Let us not be deceived by the false belief that the True and Living Most High will choose a physical human nation to lead His Kingdom. He will not! Instead, He has chosen those who are faithful, those who embody the spirit of Israel through their lives and actions.
