The modern world is vibrating at a broken frequency. We have become a culture of the "one-second-scene," where the quick-cut edits of movies and the relentless scroll of AI social media clips, amongst other things, have systematically destroyed the human ability to wait. By losing our patience, we have created a wide chasm between our transformed, divine potential and our lower, animalistic nature. We have forgotten that the most powerful movements of the spirit do not happen in a "skip-to-the-end" moment, but in the tarrying.
This profound need for patience is best exemplified by the journey of William J. Seymour, the humble leader of the Azusa Street Revival. Despite his intense hunger for the power of the Holy Ghost, Seymour famously sat behind a makeshift pulpit of wooden crates, teaching a promise he had not yet personally felt. He understood that the fire could not be manufactured or rushed; he tarried in a state of absolute surrender, waiting for the promise to manifest. When the Holy Spirit finally fell upon him and his small congregation, it did not just change a single room—it birthed a worldwide movement that continues to transform millions of lives to this day. His legacy proves that the most enduring truths are not found in the quick-cut of the moment, but in the radical endurance of the wait.
We are calling out to the new spiritual leaders—those who have been seasoned by the progressive movement—to step forward. You have deconstructed the old walls; now, it is time to usher in an even more true revival of the truth.
The Science of the Soul
We acknowledge that spirit science is valid. We can now describe and explain the human experience through complex formulas, quantum frequencies, and the names of the elements. However, being able to explain the geometry of a soul does not distract from that soul's primal desire for love and deliverance. We are more than the sum of our chemical parts; we are a living "Amen" looking for a home and purpose.
Understanding the Eternal Christ
The knowledge ushered in by the New Age Movement—specifically the archetypal understanding of the Christ Child, the Sacred Mother, and the Divine Father—does not diminish the life of Christ. Instead, it enhances it. It reveals the story of Jesus not as a limited historical event, but as a Universal and Recurring blueprint for all of humanity.
For the Progressive Christian, deep dives into archaeology, the political maneuvers of the Council of Nicea, and the complex history of the Hebrews do not make the Spirit less necessary. Knowing the "how" of history only increases our thirst for the "Naked and Raw Holy Spirit." Facts are the skeleton, but we need the Breath to make the dry bones live.
A Universal Priesthood
The priests and priestesses of this ancient knowledge have been born into the physical bodies of many races and numerous cultures. What we have in common is a desperate need for purity, healing, deliverance, prophecy, and a oneness with Righteousness. We must relearn the art of the tarrying room. We must wait until the mathematical occurrences of our belief turn into the living, breathing presence of the Holy Spirit. Only then can we be saved, transformed, and delivered.
The Tarrying Room: The Art of the Sacred Wait
To create a "Tarrying Room" is to build a space that defies the modern "one-second-scene" world. It is a space designed for the silence where the animalistic nature is tamed and the Holy Spirit is invited to move in its raw and naked form. In this room, we do not rush the Divine; we wait until the atmosphere shifts from the mathematical to the miraculous.
The Elements of the Tarrying Room
The Altar of Invitation: Centered in the room, the altar could hold candles that represent the unquenchable fire of Azusa. These are not merely for light, but serve as physical anchors for your intense desire. However, the room could also be completely empty.
The Fragrance of the Oracle: Much like the ancient vapors of Delphi, sacred incense is used to clear the mental noise. Using resins like Frankincense or Aloeswood bridges the gap between our physical breath and the Breath of Life. If you have no incense, be sure, that when the Holy Spirit comes, It brings with It a sweet savor of Its own.
The Geometry of Belief: The seating should be arranged to encourage a "oneness." The physical structure must reflect the order of the One Spirit you are inviting. You may need something to lean on; a bench to hold your sacred book, OR you may want to lie prostrate on a bare floor.
The Tarrying Act: There is no music here, only the sound of breathing and the occasional voice of prophecy and prayer. We stay until the "transformation" occurs—until the Christ Child archetype within us is no longer a concept, but a living reality.
The Call to the New Priesthood
To the priests and priestesses who feel the stirring of this truth in your bones: the hour of the tarrying has arrived. Be prepared to be distracted; give yourself grace, but keep going.
You have been birthed into every race and every culture, carrying the ancient codes of your ancestors and the progressive clarity of the modern age. You are the bridge-builders, called to lead a movement that does not reject knowledge, but uses it to clear a path for the Power.
We call you to step out of the shadows of performance and into the light of purity. Do not be distracted by the animalistic noise of the world or the formulas of man. Your task is to facilitate the healing and deliverance that only the true Holy Ghost can provide. Lead your people back to the room of waiting. Teach them that the mathematics of the stars and the history of the scrolls are but the description—the destination is a living, breathing oneness with Righteousness. Rise now, for the world is thirsty for a life that is truly immortal.
